I grew up in Western Australia in a household where love was real but life was hard. My father was a clever, good-hearted man — but he battled alcohol addiction and could never quite break free. At 15, I lost him to a heart attack brought on by years of poor health, heavy drinking and smoking. He was only 45.

Two years earlier, at 13, I'd watched my grandmother pass away from lung cancer in our family home. Later, my grandfather took his own life. Grief, trauma and resilience became the fabric of our family long before I understood what any of those words really meant.

Through it all, something took root inside me: a quiet determination that whispered, “I got this, Dad. I won't let you down.” That voice has never left.

I re-located to Melbourne in 2014, quit alcohol in 2016 and re-married in 2019. Together we've built a life grounded in honesty, mutual respect and shared ambition. The lessons were expensive — but they were thorough. I arrived at a place of stability, gratitude and readiness for whatever came next.

I have three adult children. Everything built, is built with them watching. My greatest ambition isn't a revenue target — it's showing my kids, by example, that life has ups and downs and that perseverance and tenacity build a good life. That you can fail spectacularly and come back stronger.

Beyond business, we want My Stripes Digital to generate enough surplus profit to fund meaningful social outcomes: tackling homelessness, poverty and inequality, and helping communities rebuild collaborative, purpose-driven local economies. The next wave of AI and automation will fundamentally reshape how humans work — and we want to be part of the movement that ensures no one gets left behind.

I've been poor. I've been rich. I've lost it all and built it back. If there's one thing those experiences taught me, it's this: the tools we use should make life easier, not harder. That's the principle behind every system we design at My Stripes Digital.
